Summary: "Great for a coffe table"

This book is more like a quick reference guide to symbols. Pictures are awesome and the book looks great. I love looking throw it an I have learn a thing or two but is not for the study or learning of interpreting symbols.

Summary: "a lot and a little"

This is a very nice collection of symbols overall. There are very nice pictures of most of them as well. Each symbol has only a few sentences about them so if you are looking for indepth discussion of symbols, this is not it. However, the book does contain a ton of symbols from numerous different categories. Some sections I thought were well done and others, not so much. The 'nature' section talks about the meaning of things like blueberries or flowers to different cultures which I personally did not find that interesting. I would have liked to see more indepth discriptions and maybe more pictures showing variations of the symbols, but still, overall, this is a good encyclopedia of signs and symbols.

Summary: "SIGNS AND SYMBOLS"

Signs and Symbols by D.K. Publishing is a nicely presented and formatted table book. It is beautifully bound, and will appeal to the eye of curiosity seekers. The array of colorful photographs, sketches, and listed symbolic artifacts will undoubtedly gain the readers interest while sipping their early morning coffee.

The book is formatted with various chapters and those symbols related to the chapter's specific topic. For instance; there is a chapter on the "Cosmos," and there is a chapter on "Animals", and a chapter on "Humanity"( etc), with all the appropriate ancient symbols and their meanings related to that subject matter.

However, I found the book to have more of an "encyclopedic cloak" about it rather than, something devoted more seriously to the subject of symbolism.

This is a nice table top "show-piece" but, it leaves the serious student wanting something...a bit more "Symbolic."

Summary: "Amazing Book . Huge reference and beautiful illustration."

This book is one of the best I've ever bought. It's divided into themes, areas, categories of symbols. Each part brings lots of photos, illustrations, drawings of the signs and symbols showing each meaning and history. It's an amazing reference book that DK Publishng does so well and uniquely.
